5 Part-Time Jobs with Good Benefits for Seniors

Retirement always seems to be on the horizon—a far-off goal that we look forward to and save for and dream about. But for many Americans, arriving at retirement isn’t as full of glamour and adventure as they once hoped. Combined with social security income, many contemplating retirement have enough money saved up for the day-to-day; but health insurance costs and potential future medical expenses make retirement risky. Especially when you consider that, unlike our great grandparents, retirement lasts longer because medical advances help us live longer.

Many people who formally retire also choose to keep at part-time job to ease the burden (learn more about that here). But income is not the only way to achieve financial peace of mind. We’ve put together five employers that provide health insurance and other benefits to part-time workers as well:

1. Starbucks

Starbucks is a great environment for seniors with great people skills. Especially for coffee drinkers, there’s no limit to what you can learn or share when you’re making, tasting or serving up hand-crafted brews.

2. QuikTrip

A fast-paced environment like QuikTrip can keep an agile person engaged all day long.

3. Trader Joe's

For seniors who enjoy helping people and are avid healthy eaters, this is a great place to work.

4. Lowe’s Home Improvement

Imagine all of the projects you could offer advice on. With a job like this, you could learn and share new skills.

5. United Parcel Service (UPS)

If you like to be on your feet doing physical work, UPS is a smart choice!

Find the right place for you.

There are plenty of opportunities for jobs that aren’t 40-hour a week commitment, but still bring in income, social interaction and health benefits. Staying active while generating a little income is a good thing but if you could find a job with flexible hours, decent pay and insurance benefits for part-time work, that would be ideal. So start your search!
