5 Reasons to Be Excited About the Chiefs — in Spring

Sure, it’s April — five months until the Kansas City Chiefs kick off the 2017 season — but there are still plenty of reasons right now to be excited about the reigning AFC West champions:

1. CommunityAmerica’s Gate Opening at Arrowhead sweepstakes on Facebook and Instagram1.

CommunityAmerica is now the Official Banking Partner of the Kansas City Chiefs. To celebrate the partnership, we’re taking some lucky social media fans with us on a Chiefs VIP experience on Tuesday, May 9 at Arrowhead Stadium. The winners of the sweepstakes will have the opportunity to:

  • Step onto the field at Arrowhead Stadium and take pics.
  • Check out the locker room.
  • Explore the Chiefs Hall of Honor.
  • Enjoy complimentary food.
  • Hang out with Ambassadors, Chiefs Cheerleaders, KC Wolf and more.

Editor's note: The sweepstakes ended on April 24.

2. The NFL Draft (April 27-29).

As of this writing, the Chiefs are slated to take the 27th pick in the first round of the NFL Draft, set for Thursday, April 27 in Philadelphia. They also have a second, two thirds, a fourth, two fifths, two sixths and a seventh-round selection. Get the full list of KC picks here. The first round of the draft starts at 7pm on April 27 on ESPN.

3. Coming soon: Step up your debit card game.

On May 1, CommunityAmerica launches Chiefs Checking complete with a stylish Chiefs Visa® debit card. This card will get you a discount at the Chiefs Team Store at Arrowhead Stadium. Plus, you'll get discounted Chiefs checks and more. Be the first to get Chiefs Checking on May 1 by visiting our website or a friendly branch.

4. Training Camp, presented by Mosaic Life Care, in St. Joseph, MO.

Missouri Western State University has been the summer home for Chiefs Training Camp since 2010. The Chiefs will travel an hour north on I-29 in mid-July to get the 2017 season started. It’s not too early to start planning for training camp. If you’ve never been, it’s a great experience for friends and the whole family. Best of all, it’s affordable. Parking on campus is $5. And the vast majority of practices are free to the public on a first-come, first-served basis.

5. Andy Reid.

Since arriving in Kansas City in 2013, Chiefs coach Andy Reid has made three playoff appearances in four years. He’s had a winning season all four years. Reid is 43-21 (.672) in the regular season and leads a roster with most of its primary pieces back after winning the AFC West in 2016. Chiefs Kingdom is rightfully anticipating another successful 2017 season.
